This guide book is for the Cowside and Thoragill Waterfall and Settlement Walk from the "Waterfall Walks in the Geological and Archaeological landscape of Malhamdale and the Surrounding Area", series of guide books, where the route of one walk encompasses views of waterfalls, geological and archaeological features of Malhamdale and the surrounding area that are sat in a back drop of scenic beauty formed by ice age glaciation and the deposition of carboniferous limestone scenery that attracts many visitors to the area. This walk is popular with the many locals who live Malhamdale; part of this walk, they like in particular is the stretch from Darnbrook to Middle house, because of the series of settlement type features such as the Roman camp, Iron Age round houses and the Victorian farm stead. Moreover, the route also takes one through a pleasant woodland walk round Malham Tarn (894 664) and Cowside valley, which is also appealing.
