{Vern(acu)la(r}ate) exists as a dialogue into the future of Irish architecture. This piece looks into the issues of architecture in rural Ireland and takes ideas from various locations into account in finding possible means of developing this built environment. The author spent much time in Donegal, through their life and over the duration of the piece discovering that many of these viewpoints are held not only with themselves, but with the people in these areas.

This dissertation coincides with a technical dissertation and project upon Murran Hill, Fanad Head, Donegal, where a lot of the studies exist. This piece exists as a preface into the research and bases many of the principles by which this project may by designed.

As mentioned, this is but a prefacing dialogue and not to be seen as an end result. It would not only be futile, but counterintuitive to insist on stylistic principles which would hold an Irish ethos, therefore viewpoints look more broadly at the subject and the treatment of the landscape.
