Exhibition catalog: “Women Warriors… Artists’ Books”

We are honored to present the work of Peruvian, Argentinean, and North American women artists, in the form of small format artists’ books.

The subjects of the books are strong women, personal and global, family members and historical figures. The books are created many different ways and incorporate techniques often labeled as feminine – embroidery, crochet, and scrapbooking, along with traditional techniques like drawing, painting, collage, and photography. Some are books built up from various collected materials, while others start off as traditional, bound books or notebooks, which are transformed by additions or deconstructed by being sculpted into something different altogether. Some are like diaries or documentaries or maps. Others are like illustrations, diagrams, family albums, or mementos.

The exhibition has been presented in Lima, Perú; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Austin, Texas, USA.
