This poetry chapbook owes its heat to Ko Un, widely considered South Korea's greatest living poet, and his collection MANINBO or TEN THOUSAND LIVES (Green Integer Press). Ko Un's poems—portraits of people he held in memory as a child, as a monk, and as a political prisoner—brought to mind our people, those individuals who early shaped our take on the world. Collaborating on revision across seven states, we took liberties with each other's words and music, so much that we no longer care to match our names to individual poems.
