    About the Book

    Edit

"Assembled Treasures" collects, for the first time, selected images from the extraordinary work of artist Alice Vander Vennen. Working with multiple materials—fabric, branches, wire, copper, paper and ceramic shards—Vander Vennen creates a visual language suggesting a story. The story, she writes, "is part women's history, the meaning of objects in everyday life and the collection and sorting of intriguing things. I strike to have my art speak as a celebration of the human spirit in relation to its Creator, whether from secret spaces or the most flamboyant expressions. The works form a record of my own journey of life." The images on these pages document Alice Vander Vennen's visual journey from 2000 to 2010.
