    About the Book

    Edit

The Burning Daylight series is a collection of photographs of the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida taken over the last 3 years from my fifth floor window at The Park Lane.

I grew up in Jacksonville on the St. Johns, boating, sailing and skiing and I have a great fondness and respect for the river. My first photographs were shot with my Kodak Brownie while boating with my family on the St. Johns. While the river serves as the focus of the Burning Daylight series and this book, it is the first time I have photographed a landscape, or in this case a riverscape, almost daily from a single point of view. Ansel Adams, the famous landscape photographer once said, “A good photograph is knowing where to stand.” In my case it is standing at my window.

The river stoked my fascination with photography as a kid; I am still entranced with capturing the extraordinary aesthetic qualities of the river and its surprising, ever changing environment.
