This is a series of 49, 8 x 10” gouache paintings of cows, bulls and calves in combination with stream of consciousness lyrics. The title of the show refers to both the process of reflection and ruminants, or cows.

Santa Rosa, California

Kristen Throop, who began her working career on a dairy farm, reflects on the personal and cultural significance of cows, with wit and pathos. The inspiration for the series was a dream of a calf at a cross road. All 49 paintings have been created in 2013. Ms. Throop has studied at Yale and holds a BFA from Syracuse University in upstate New York.
