Uncle Calvin Perkins was in his 80's before he told anyone the details about his POW experiences. He just refused to talk about it. One day I took my 8 year old cub scouts to him and asked him to tell them his story. He began to talk and I began to take notes as fast as I could. Most of his memories were vivid and clear. The cub scouts listened in awe until the end. I knew that we had witnessed something that must be preserved and thus, this book was created with photos added. What a treasure to our family and to anyone interested in this kind of history.
