    About the Book

    Edit

Two hundred feet or so above jagged rocks, Inyswidden, home to artist friends Peter and Anne, looks out over an open sea highway stretching southeastwards to France, Spain, Portugal and beyond .

Every day a drama of changing light is played out, morning and evening as clouds drift and rise over the cliff top, gales batter the exposed headlands, a sea-fog descends to veil sea and land, or calm and quiet prevails.

This sequence of twenty images was shot over ten minutes on the 7th of April 2011. A day of near flat calm, with layered clouds moving slowly eastwards under morning sun while pools of light seemed to drift and gently turn in the opposite direction.

A digital camera allowed me to time things accurately and simplified the process by removing the need to scan negatives and adjust framing and processing for each individual shot. It also allowed me to accommodate larger changes in intensity as pools of sunlight drifted across the water..
