Kediri is a memoir of a young boy struggling to survive in the final years of the Dutch East Indies (modern day Indonesia), during and after World War II. Separated from his father and brother by the Japanese, imprisoned with his mother, hunted by Indonesian rebels, fighting starvation and disease, he eventually finds new life in the Netherlands and the United States.
