Bibliography Nicolaas Porter Born 1952 in The Hague (Netherlands) from mixed parents, attended Academy of fine arts in Utrecht. Studied for some time at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts de Paris. He left Paris and moved to Aix en Provence to work as a painter and personal teacher for American students of the vanderBilt University . He had his first solo exhibition at Aix. In 1978 he left France for Surinam and lives and works there since then. Hehad various photo-exhibitions in Holland and Suriname. In 2011 he was awarded the Rabindranath Tagore Award for photography (first prize) In 2012 he became the winner of World Portraits.
