    About the Book

    Edit

Jim Hamilton was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 2nd May 1924. Fighter pilot turned Missionary, he has led an exciting and varied life. His first book entitled War Time Traveller told the exciting story of his RAF training, travelling the world and flying Spitfires.

After returning to civilian life in 1947, Jim Hamilton felt the call of God to return to Africa as a missionary of the Gospel. Four years of preparation followed, three at All Nations Bible College and one at the Missionary School of Medicine, London.

During this time, Jim's fiancee, Jean Bittle, who had also responded to the missionary challenge completed her General Nursing training, qualified as a midwife and completed a course at the Liverpool Tropical Diseases Hospital. A further year was spent at Mt. Hermon Missionary Training College.

In 1951, Jim and Jean were accepted for missionary service with the Sudan United Mission in West Africa. This book is their story.
