Behind the Wheel.

The yellow lines become white lines and disappear into nothing before rerturning again. The black asphalt stretches out into the distance beyond. The engine revs full throttle as the car barrels down the road. Telephone wires span the skies until you find yourself out of range where there are no more stops along the long stretch of road.

Depeche Mode singer David Gahan once crooned that he loved when his girlfriend was behind the wheel of the car, completely in control and likened it to her being in control when they were intimate. Being behind the wheel is as unique to each person as an intimate experience. It's complete control reliant on the driver. The driver is in control, responsible for the destiny, the design and the desire of the journey solely with the wheel in their grasp.

Often the driver isn't seeing the world the same as the passenger. It's a limited perspective seldom seen. With the advancement of modern technology driving may become obsolete and complete control may lie solely in the hands of a machine without the ability to appreciate the journey.


Now it's interesting to see what the driver sees when in complete control of the vehicle. Where is the journey going? What does the moment behind the wheel reveals more about the driver? It would be fascinating to discover.
