    About the Book

    Edit

During our 19-day Northwest Pacific bus tour covering over 6,500 miles, we enjoyed the entertainment in Las Vegas; toured San Francisco and the wineries; marveled over the giant redwood forests; visited Space Needle in Seattle; rode the ferry to Tillicum Island for a Native American dinner and performance; watched Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park; and attended a country show in Branson.

This started as my personal journal, but it developed into something more. My sister encouraged me to read my daily ramblings to everyone on the bus. Since I always like taking pictures and writing stories, there are almost 500 photographs in this journal. In addition, I shared some "Did You Know?" information about each state we travelled through. Several people on the trip expressed an interest in getting a copy of my journals and pictures. As a result, I decided to publish my Northwest Adventure Journal.

In 2001, I retired as an school administrator from the local school system. Since then, I've been presenting workshops to teachers as an Acadiana Writing Project teacher consultant, observing new teachers for state certification as an external assessor, and starting a home/hobby business Nellmark Digital Photography. This past summer I took a 19 day bus tour to the Northwest Pacific with my sister. Each night I would write in my personal journal, but it developed into something more. I started reading my ramblings and historical tidbits to everyone on the bus each day. Afterwards, several people wanted a copy of my daily journals along with the 1,100 pictures I'd taken on the trip. That's when I decided to compile it into "coffee table" book and publish it.
