English born artist, Jacky Murtaugh’s work, celebrates colour and pattern found in the natural landscape. Her vibrant and richly coloured paintings in oil and acrylic reveal the intricate patterns found in nature which can be seen in her sparkling renditions of water and blinding representations of sunlight through trees. She captures the fleeting moments and a sense of the ephemeral. Currently based in Adelaide, Murtaugh is inspired by local landscapes including Port Noarlunga, Largs and Grange. In her seascapes Murtaugh is drawn to the infinite colour and shape of reflections in the water. Her strong use of colour offers a unique perspective on a traditional landscape and an insight to the emotional response from the artist.
