Disappointed with the media’s general portrayal of African children and those in extreme poverty, I took portraits of the people of Gunjur during a recent trip to Gambia. I stayed in a compound with the locals and was immediately welcomed by everyone, and I began to explore photographs capturing their friendly nature. These photographs depict the people as they are; at work, rest and play.
