About the Book
I did this project over a two year period and the season it represents is 2009-2010. All of the stadiums are from the first 4 divisions in England and Wales at that time. This is something I had been wanting to do since my time at college studying photography between 1991 -1994 at Nottingham Trent University and falling in love with the photography of Bernd and Hilla Becher's industrial buildings and water towers in the former East Germany. The idea was also to document something which may have some historical and social relevence, long after all of our inner city original stadiums had probably been steam rollered and replaced by 'flat pack' purpose built stadiums with easy access, large car parks and sitting somewhere on a ring road next to Ikea and Burger King. I did the pictures in black and white so the teams colours couldn't affect the picture and all images were cropped at the picture stage with a 28mm lens and 16:9 format Leica camera.
