About the Book
Jenny Robinson's monotypes concentrating on scenes taken from urban environments in major cities including London, New York and San Francisco. Her main subject matter includes monumental and landmark structures, such as bridges and large buildings. This book features many of her iconic images, featured in an exhibition at Warnock Fine Arts.
Her work depicts the beauty and grace inherent in these buildings and structures, which are often neglected and allowed to deteriorate, or alternatively are overlooked as being part of the more mundane aspects of city architecture.
The viewers’ attention is drawn to these structures, which are often left to decay before being pulled down to make way for more condos or office space, for example the many old cinemas in San Francisco. The viewer is forced to reconsider these structures that they often take for granted, as a reminder of what is so close to being lost forever in the push for blandness and modernity.
