Two huge elephants, part of a small breeding herd, slowly moved to within an arm's-length of James, our tracker, who was sitting on the front fender. At last Solly, our ranger, started the engine and revved it menacingly. Realizing we wouldn't back down, the elephants moved off, ending one of many fascinating and exhilarating safari experiences. Memorable encounters, with people, wildlife and the land, keep Debby and me returning to Africa.

This book was originally conceived as a personal record of our fourth trip to Southern Africa. At the urging of friends and family, it is now available to the public. The cover photo is typical of the majority of the photographs in the book.
