Introduction: When I was single, I felt bombarded with negative messages about marriage. It seemed that any time the subject of a spouse or marriage came up, the ensuing comments were disrespectful and embittered.



To give myself and others hope for the institution, I started a Facebook page called, “The I Love My Marriage Project.” For me, a person’s words are much more meaningful than dismal statistics, so I wanted to hear directly from happily married people. I invited them to post on the page by simply asking what they loved most about their marriage, and how long they had been married. At first I posted letters or transcribed phone calls from friends and family. Later, others found the page and posted on their own (fyi: some forgot to put the length of their marriage). A big thank you goes out to all who posted, wrote letters, or gave split-second-answers over the phone. Thank you for your generosity, and excitement about marriage!



I actually got married eight months after starting the project, so I guess it worked for me. Hopefully it “works” for you as well. Whether single or married, I’m sure all can benefit from the positive-marriage-messages in this book.
