    About the Book

    Edit

    Aotearoa / New Zealand

Born of fire atop the great clash of tectonic plates, New Zealand endures as a biologic and geologic phenomenon: Nowhere else on Earth do glaciers and rainforests thrive

    side-by-side.

The collection of flora and fauna found here remains unique, due largely to New Zealand’s geographic isolation from any other continent. Despite this long-standing confinement, New Zealand’s primordial biodiversity has not escaped human influence; consequently, hundreds of endemic species have suffered, some teetering on the edge of extinction. Fortunately, strict natural resource management and conservation efforts are underway to restore the unique balance of life that once flourished.

    ‘rI-”zOm :

A root like subterranean system that

    usually produces roots below and

    sends up shoots progressively from

    the upper surface.

    earthRHIZOME spans the earth and

    digs beyond the surface, seeking

wonder, mystery, and joy from the

    commonly unseen or untouched

    elements that connect all mankind.

The goal: to capture stunning beauty,

    surreal landscapes and intimate

    encounters with evocative and

    inspiring photographs.

It is suggested that the earth is

roughly 4.6 billion years old. In this

    time, continents, oceans, and mountain

    ranges have formed as civilizations

unfurl and fall. Our time on earth is a

mere blink in the cosmic phenomena

that alters who we are and the places

we call home. Through its photographs,

    earthRHIZOME preserves this

    heartbeat for future generations.
