About the Book
Faded Marks is a very personal reflection on East Kilbride New Town, the changes in British public and private life since the town's foundation in the 1940s and upon growing up there in the 1950s and 60s.
All the images were made in the forty eight hours between 10.45 on the 24th and 10.30 on the 26th of January 2007. In one sense they are a quick glance at one small area of one town in Scotland. In another they represent a slow realisation over many years of a very profound loss and mourning for a once fiercely proud and idealistic view of society.

About the Creator
After leaving University in the mid 1970s Chris Hall worked in administration in the NHS, Stirling University and Lothian Regional Council for six years before setting up his own commercial photographic studio in Edinburgh. Following a highly succesful career in Design and Advertising Photography which spanned more than twenty years, he taught part-time for several years at Edinburgh Napier University and Stevenson College of Education. Whilst teaching, the enthusiasm and energy of his students reignited the passion for the medium which had led him into photography in the first place. 'Faded Marks' is his first venture into gallery photography since abandoning commercial work and he is currently wallowing in this new found freedom of expression.
