About the Book
Pushkar is eighty miles southwest of Jaipur in Rajasthan, India. Fifty thousand camels and cattle come together during the full moon week in October or November to celebrate Kartik Poornima or Tripuri Poornima.



The Imperial Gazetteer of India reported 100,000 in attendance in 1909. Today, that number is 250,000. The fair has rides, dancers, folk music, magic shows, and horse and camel races. There are stalls to sell finery and jewelry for camels, and humans. There are stalls to sell clothing, spices, sugar cane, mobile phones, and anything imaginable.
