    About the Book

    Edit

"He had bought a large map, representing the sea

Without the least vestige of land

And the crew were much pleased when they found it to be

A map they could all understand."

Lewis Carroll, 'The Hunting of the Snark'

Images and texts inspired by research into biotech, genomics and cloning. 'Three Times True' was a triple screen installation for the University of Edinburgh's Old College Quad, visible every night from dusk to midnight throughout early 2007. The work was researched and produced as part of Alistair Gentry's residency at the ESRC Genomics Policy and Research Forum, also based at the University. The project was supported by the Talbot Rice Gallery.

NB: I recommend the hardcover, ProLine black endpapers and black linen to see the book as it was originally intended.

    [Second, unlimited edition.]

My work is diverse and it encompasses video, animation, installation, photography, text, performance, sound works, programming, electronics, roleplaying games and various hybrid genres or formats derived from them. These commissions and self-initiated works have been seen and heard in digital media, on radio, television and the stage, in art galleries, at film and art festivals, in print and online. I've lived and worked in China and Japan, all over the UK and throughout Europe. Exhibitions include 'New Forest Pavilion' at La Biennale di Venezia, the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) in Nagoya, Japan and 'Broadcast Yourself', a survey of artists' works on and about television since the 1960s. In 2004 I was awarded a Berwick Gymnasium Artist Fellowship by English Heritage and the Arts Council of England. 2006-2007 I was artist in residence at the University of Edinburgh's ESRC Genomics Policy & Research Forum.
