The northwest shore of Lake Winnebago harbors an urban area known as the Fox Cities.

Appleton is the largest of the Fox Cities, and its cultural heart. Appleton is home to a spectacular performing arts center, museums focusing on favorite son Harry Houdini and the paper industry. Wisconsin’s Door County is one of those places that conjures up images of pristine natural beauty. A lot of the photographs in this book are from Door county. They were done with our dear friend Dan Parmenter who runs Aerial Photos of America, based in Menasha and Appleton Wisconsin.

Wisconsin turns magical when the temperature starts to plunge. In late fall, when the deciduous trees lose their leaves and the area takes on a whispery quiet and allure .

Sandstone bluffs, caves, are windswept remnants left behind from four glaciers that carved the landscape over 100,000 years.

Wisconsin has 7,446 streams and rivers. End to end, they’d stretch 26,767 miles, more than enough to circle the globe at the equator.
