A collection of views, interpretations and downright alterations of the most intimate art in modern history - the automobile.

Which exact car is represented in each image is occasionally obvious, often impossible. Though it's fun to speculate, the real purpose is in seeing things that aren't normally seen, and in the angles you remember from your mind, that you don't normally see in photographs.

This is part of a continuing journey of discovery, one punctuated by flashes of newness, even in the face of seeing the same type of car. What each owner does with their car, how it's presented, the time of day, the surroundings, and even random chance, change he visual triggers that make us see certain features.

This newness is the magic! It's what makes junkyards, car shows, and even parking lots worth seeing again and again.

Look for the unusual in your travels with the automobile. Every new day, new places and new experiences will give you a fresh perspective on the device you spend so much time in.

This collection is part of that unusual perspective.

    Craig Patterson
    Colorful Colorado, USA

Craig Patterson is an award-winning photographer with extensive experience shooting a wide variety of subjects of concern to Baby Boomers. Unlike other photographers, each of the works he creates is limited to one original piece, printed on aluminum. Limited edition prints of that work may exist, much like prints of traditional works of art, but there is only one original, which is signed and numbered “1/1.” For Craig's automotive work, he tries to bring out something in the car that people don't think they're seeing; a beauty that helps define the car, but isn't inherently obvious. Sometimes it's a curve, or a stance, or even a flaw that others might try to hide. Whatever it is that creates the beauty of the automobile, that's what he draws from. Every car is not a single work, but the result of thousands of individual curves and details. Those are what are important to Craig.
