Football is the most popular sport in England, with up to 600,000 people attending matches across 4 professional leagues on an average Saturday match day. I myself am a life long supporter of Portsmouth FC, and my love of the beautiful game has helped motivate the work. My passion for the sport has seen me move from the Football League to the Non-league side of football. This allowed me to photograph the matches themselves, as well as the match day experience of the fans and the interaction between the two. I enjoyed mixing comedic observations and photography into the work as one, it helped give the work a universal appeal, even to those who dislike football.
