Humans are social creatures. Even if we describe ourselves as a “loner” we still enjoy and on some level crave human contact. Our spaces reflect this. We construct environments designed to hold dozens, hundreds, or more, and when they are empty there is something unnatural and desolate about them. By placing myself alone in an environment designed for many more, I hope to convey the sadness of lonely silence, and a longing for the joys of fellowship.
