    About the Book

    Edit

Papua New Guinea(PNG) is one extraordinary place. Over 700 separate tribes live in the valleys and mountains of this island country north of Australia. Each has its own language and culture. Every year a number of tribes gather for the annual "sing sing". This beautiful book documents one of these celebrations and a number of other encounters with this unique place. This work focuses on some of tribes, people, adults and children you can find there. You come away with the profound impact of the universality of art and humanity.

    Don and Marilyn McCorkell
    Santa Barbara, California USA

Marilyn and Don McCorkell are both committed explorers of the planet. Marilyn focuses most of her efforts on art. Don is deeply involved in filmmaking having just completed his first documentary, "Shall We Gather at the River"--a dramatic expose of the health and environmental problems created by massive factory farms. Marilyn has led their effort in documenting their travels in books such as this one using photographs by her and Don. She also creates individual artistic works in various media. Don is involved in public policy writing and advocacy. Their current activities follow their previous lives as business entrepreneurs, attorneys, and Don's career as a legislator in Oklahoma and Marilyn's career as a social worker with disturbed adolescents.
