About the Book
Irish Country Houses, and particularly Cork ones, have a character and personality unique from that found elsewhere in the world. Solid and particularly functional, they provide a sanctuary from the Irish climate which is frequently gray, cold and damp.
Lissardagh House is a fine example of a sturdy Georgian Manor House, the buildings unique features offer an insight into the temperament and style of William Baldwin, who built the House, the third on the Estate, in 1860.
The families who have been lucky enough to occupy Lissardagh House over the last 150 years, have put quite a bit of themselves into the House, but they have also gained a vast amount of pleasure from living in this little piece of paradise on earth. The Murphy family occupied the house up until 1959; it is now the home of the Mahony family.
