The American West has held our fascination for centuries. Its deserts and coastlines, mountains and endless plains have beckoned to those looking for anything from a temporary escape to an inspiring setting to forge a new life.



For Sandeep Ayyappan, the West was an opportunity to refresh his perspective. After years in ivy-decked buildings and corporate towers, it was time to get a broader view. It was time for a new adventure, without a specific destination or defined expectations, with no one to answer to but himself.



Packing his car with his remaining belongings, he left on a four-month, 15,000-mile journey from Texas to New Mexico and Arizona, along the California coast and up to Vancouver, across the Canadian Rockies and down to the Yellowstone plateau, and over the Great Plains to his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.
