Aqui Fica Uma Flor (Here Stays a Flower)

MEMORY AND RECORD OF A UNIQUE PORTUGUESE TRADITION

On the eve of Epiphany in Vale de Açor, the town where J. Rosa G. was born, the young men with the same age travel all night every street of the village. They celebrate a tradition that combines the portuguese janeiras, while male rite of passage, with the female labor of paper cutting. After a placement of a "flower" in each house, they sing a unique song accompanied by accordion, creating a diferent lyric for each person and expanding children's imagination.
