About the Book
In 1991 Alanna Baird began what has become the focus of her time and energy - the creation of metal fish sculpture - using recycled materials. The transformation of waste containers (empty tin cans) into shiny armored fish. Her very first piece, titled “Starkist Gold, t’ain’t no tuna here” received international attention and was published by the American Craft Council in 1993 as part of a celebration of Craft in North America. Her innovative new idea took hold, and has continued to evolve. This book METAMORPHISH underscores and celebrates one year and an artist's total reverie to both the comedic and sublime. Schreier Publishing is pleased to support this body of work.
