    About the Book

    Edit

This book chronicles Murray Zimiles' artistic production of paintings, drawings and prints on the subject of the Holocaust, made over a period of 14 years, from 1984 - 1998. These works of art depict the genocidal destruction of European Jewish communities and their synagogues, which were amongst the most beautiful religious buildings ever crafted. To an artist, the systematic destruction of buildings, art works, and artifacts is a particularly painful aspect of the destruction of a people. His pictures are graphic statements meant to propel the viewer into the whirlwind of fire and devastation. They also serve to help the artist come to terms with his family's past.
