Through pictures, this book captures my travel to the United States cities of San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles during the period of 29th May 2010 to 11th June 2010. In these pages, I have chosen photographs that capture the essence of each of these great cities. From the iconic Golden Gate Bridge to a glimpse of life as a prisoner in a past era on the time-weathered former high profile maximum security prison at Alcatraz Island, these photographs preserve the vividness, history and appeal of San Francisco. Approximately three hours drive from San Francisco lies the Yosemite National Park, with its splendid scenery of granite cliffs, grand waterfalls and Giant Sequoia trees. Las Vegas is a city characterised by extravagance and indulgence. It is a city that is all about night life and photographs at various famous casino and hotel complexes, such as the Bellagio and The Venetian (both reside along the famous Las Vegas Boulevard, or better known as The Strip) provide a visual journey through this energetic city. Los Angeles has its own character, distinct from the previous two cities. Best known as the home of America's movie industry, these photographs capture this aspect of Los Angeles through the Hollywood sign and the stars along the Walk of Fame. Downtown Los Angeles, by contrast, was more downbeat and I employed black and white photography to bring out the shift in mood that I experienced here.
