About the Book

For at least 20 years I have wanted to go on safari in Africa. I have read many books on African hunting from such notable early African hunting pioneers as Selous and Corbett, and books by later hunters such as Roosevelt, Ruark and Capstick. But as fate would have it things like kids and work seemed to always take priority over a two week hunting trip. Then when James was in the 9th grade I got the idea that we should do this together for his high school graduation. Over the next three years I put the trip together. We booked with Scott Guthrie of Zindele Safaris and packed and re-packed. Our safari went by too quickly but what a unique experience Africa provided us. It was so good to be able to share it with James. This is my written and photographic journal of our 14 Days in the Tall Grass.
