Michael Ransdell’s work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the Burpee Art Museum in Rockford, Illinois; the Chapman Friedman Gallery in Louisville and Transylvania in Lexington, Kentucky; Union University Gallery in Jackson, Tennessee; and Loyola University and New Horizons in Art in Chicago. He is the recipient of many honors and awards, including the purchase award at Minnesota Museum of Art,St. Paul, in conjunction with the exhibition “Drawings USA.” He received an MFA from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. Artist Statement Objects of mystery, organic, figurative forms, made from exotic woods, burls, and driftwood dominate my mixed media constructions. I draw inspiration from natural images and markings within the wood (God Made), modifying, assembling and incorporating found objects (Man Made), into work that evokes a visual mystery.
