    About the Book

    Edit

Community development directors, municipal planners, non-profit staff, education administrators, and a multitude of other public sector professionals are tasked with a number of duties. Some may be responsible for establishing and implementing housing standards and policies, or managing transportation projects. Some may execute an education policy, or put forth environmental strategies and regulations. But, regardless of what the occupation entails, all of these professions help shape and influence overall community engagement within their respective cities and towns. In order to complete these many responsibilities, one thing is needed: Money. And where will the money come from? Often times, the funds for necessary programs and projects come from federal and state dollars in the form of a grant award and the grants process from start to finish can be quite intimidating and overwhelming.

Whether you are seeking a grant or administering a grant award, you will find this book useful because unlike the hundreds of other grant writing resources on the market, Navigating the Grants Process: A Guidebook for Community-based Agencies, Municipal Planners, and Anyone Else Involved in Funding Public Programs, was written for everyone, regardless of grants experience or professional line of work. Specifically, this book:

    * Is comprehensive, covering every aspect of the grants process from program development to funding renewal procedures,

*Details the grant components using simple and plain language rather than grant specific jargon you may be unfamiliar with,

*Includes exercises you can put into practice to strengthen your writing skills,

*Provides examples of successful sample proposals, and

*Shares specific information, such as valuable website sources, for further investigation.
