spilling the beans is a photographic series that uses a combination of portraiture and text to examine emotional connections between people and words. I work collaboratively with subjects who have interesting stories to tell about particular phrases or sayings and then depict this relationship photographically. My aim is to use the visual medium of photography to awaken our senses, to stimulate our ears, as if hearing these phrases for the very first time.
