About the Book
This book assembles a selection of images made between 2009 and 2010. Throughout life, death confronts us as both an intangible concept and as a reality that must be faced, at times with warning and at times with none at all. In seesawing between the banality of daily routine and the sheer inconceivability of non-existence, we are surrounded by signs of life in a state of constant flux. Amidst a world that flourishes and decomposes simultaneously, we are forced up against the unavoidable fact that we will leave this life as we entered: vulnerable and alone. Shot in various formats over the span of a year, these images were assembled into a book format retrospectively. In this form a concise yet diverse discussion of these observations and emotions is allowed to develop.
