About the Book
I like to take walks. That's where it all started. I walk in silence, watching my 7-year-old lab trot blissfully along, and I lose myself. I lose myself in my head and in my surroundings. The beauty is that in losing myself... I also find myself.
Sometimes I think about life and its intricacies; sometimes I think about nothing at all. But I notice everything. I notice the look on people's faces, the feel of cool breezes, the interesting cracks in sidewalks, the minuscule buds starting to grow on slender tree limbs, the pattern of peeling paint on an old door, the stunning orange color created by a rust spot on a cement wall. I notice color, lines, and shapes.
I see beauty in things: big things, small things, old things, new things, lovely things, and even ugly things. I seem to be looking through a different lens than other people, and what I see is stunning, striking, and awe-inspiring. Carrying my camera around, I am able to capture these moments, and I'm able to show others my view of the world. As an artist, there is nothing more important to me than to get people to see and appreciate the loveliness of it all.
Things are beautiful. Amazing, exquisite, extraordinary, delicate, delightful, moving, magnificent, powerful, potent... Open your eyes.
