We live in a diverse world, a complex world, a multilayered world.

 As an artist , I have always loved to tap into this aspect of life. Using multimedia in my artwork enables me to express the many layers I come across in my world.

 This book of photographs is a representative of a collection that was inspired by my senior project work.



 I am always surrounded by different environments: structures, nature, people, the city skyline. For my senior project-the culmination of my college experience-I did an in-depth portrait study. I ultimately combined images from my own photographs and painted them with different medias all on one canvas. Acrylics, chalk, photography, watercolor, sculpture, India ink, Prismacolor markers, and oil paint all harmoniously join together on my painting. I pushed myself to do more than a simple portrait study, and incorporated the structures of the beautiful and enchanting New York skyline into my painting, "A New York State of Mind".

 My goal was to step outside myself and go beyond my view alone. Everybody around me is also part of the city, and that is what I attempted to capture in my painting.

 I extended this whole theme to the mdium of

photography. People, and their environments in which they are in, merge to become one scene...one entity...one whole. This book is about the harmony between the two.



 Working on this book has inspired me. I hope it will do the same for you.
