About the Book
In my mid-twenties I left with a one-way ticket to Bogota, £300 that I had saved from working on building sites, my little camera and a bag full of Tri-X. After travelling through several countries, as my money was running low, I left for Mexico City to find work; this included teaching English and photography, and working for a model agency and for various magazines. These are a selection from my personal work taken in Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala and Mexico during this period. The title I use is that of the novel by the Cuban Alejo Carpentier, one of several Latin American authors that I had read before leaving Britain.

About the Creator
John Beeching
U.K.
John Beeching is a published photographer of many years’ experience. He has built an impressive body of work, especially in street photography, whilst also exploring landscape, abstract and other genres. He works with both film and digital cameras producing mostly black and white images. While modern media allow him to share his work with a wide audience, John sees high quality fine-art prints or photo-books as the end result of the process. Prints that can be handled, framed and hung on the wall - there is nothing that can quite compare with the tactile and material quality of a good photographic print or looking at a high quality photo-book.
