I and the director and founder of the Institute of Language and Phonology:Research Division and the owner and president of Carousel House Press in San Francisco. In 1980, I developed the Compton PESL (Pronouncing English as a Second Language) method and have trained and certified over 8,000 speech pathologists to use this program throughout the USA and Canada. I have developed and published numerous teaching and testing materials for children with speech and language disorders and adults learning English as a second language. Additionally, I am currently working in the areas of photography, art and sculpture welding, and poetry.
