    About the Book

    Edit

What was the most remarkable thing I saw in Japan? Rhetorical questions can disguise hidden agendas. We don't need to answer them. If we do, we just confirm the question's intention; if we don't, the question is the answer.
But I will answer it, anyway. There's nothing remarkable in Japan, yet everything there is memorable because it leaves a lasting impact, which I'll never forget. And this book humbly attempts to hold that feeling for longer. Japan is visually chaotic, yet it functions in such an orderly manner that inner peace is a feeling that passes through our bodies several times a day.
Modernity exists in perfect consonance with the traditional; the sacred is in the simplest things, and we, as sacred as we are, simply belong to it; it is in the perpetual silence of the streets or the punctuality of its bullet trains, or in the greetings of a 7-Eleven cashier.
Nature is the texture that envelops the days of the hurried and silent existence of the Japanese people.
Adulthood is seasoned with an inner child's imagination decorating the signs, billboards, and sounds, just like any art piece in this millennial society.
Japan's harsh past is welcomed as a lesson learned that will shape the future: peaceful, respectful, fulfilling, and everlasting.
Japan's future is the present, and is present in every child, elder, and teenager, because the future doesn't exist. That is what makes Japan a memorable place everyone should visit someday.
