About the Book
What was it like to be a young mother in Wichita, Kansas in the last few years of the 19th century? Julia Ann Deming Israel sat down each day to chronicle her family's daily life. Thirty years after her death, a grandchild discovered the diary, typed up the handwritten pages, and shared it with family.
More than twenty years later, in 2002, a great-granddaughter created an illustrated CD of the Israel family history, and digitized the diary.
And now, another couple of decades later, great-granddaughter Kerry Slattery puts the diary into book form, adding colorful annotations and many more illustrations. See Julia's everyday world of the 1890s brought back to life once again.
