I was honored to know Keene for a few years through a life drawing group we both attended. This book started out as a collection of his work from those sessions but evolved to a retrospective of all of his work after his sudden passing.
Keene Wilson refined his artistic skills at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art and at the Animation Guild under the tutelage of numerous painting, drawing and design masters, but he stated that he owed his greatest artistic debt to my years of study with his plein air, colorist mentor Elio Camacho, his impressionist mentor Vadim Zangninian, and his studies with master watercolorist Fealing Lin. Keene passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 17, 2018. This is a small selection of his work.
