About the Book
Joey Gomoll passed just short of his fifth birthday in 2010, after suffering from a debilitating form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome. Even though Joey was non-verbal, his love for music drove his contagious spirit and touched the hearts of those around him. Music became the universal language connecting him to others, often pulling someone in to dance and experience the joy the music would bring.
Since the loss of Joey, his Father, Mike Gomoll, has taken on a personal mission to bring awareness of epilepsy to the forefront of people’s minds and pull any and all resources to aid and finding a treatment and cure.
Thus, Joey’s Song was born. Starting out by promoting gatherings and selling CDs to help raise money for epilepsy research, it began building momentum and taking on a life of its own. Over time, Joey’s Song started to grow and evolve almost oranicly. Bigger attendence needed bigger venues, bigger venues made made way to more entertainment as live music entered the scene.
As we prepare to go into the 26th year of Joey’s Song, it finds its current home at the major event venue, the Sylvee, in Madison, Wi.
