    About the Book

    Edit

Black Joy Dancing to Freedom is a heartfelt collection of poems and photography by K. Kayon Morgan that celebrates the beautiful, complex journey of Black identity sharing every struggle, every triumph, every moment in between.
Through lyrical verse that moves from quiet introspection to bold declarations of freedom, Morgan invites you into a world where cultural identity, ancestral memory, and unapologetic self-love come alive. Her photography adds another layer of soul to each page, creating a conversation between image and word.
This collection explores Black joy not just as happiness, but as a powerful form of resistance. You'll find yourself immersed in vivid imagery of ocean waves, Caribbean rhythms, and the warmth of family kitchens, as Morgan creates a geography of belonging that reaches across continents and generations.
Whether you're seeking connection, reflection, or simply beautiful words that speak truth, this collection welcomes you in.
