This book is a photo collection of Donna Stavreff Burns painting and art. Born in Delta, Ohio by Macedonian immigrant parents and raised in Springfield, Ohio, Donna Stavreff Burns received her BFA and Art Education Degree at The Ohio State University in 1955. She married her college sweetheart, Norm Burns and upon his graduation from OSU Dental School they moved to Edgerton, Ohio. They lived in Edgerton for a short time, while Norm started his dental practice and soon moved to Bryan, Ohio (a bigger metropolis about 10 miles away) where they raised their three children, Jenny, David and Marty. Donna taught elementary through high school art in Edgerton for 29 years. She graced Northwest Ohio with her creativity and passion. She was involved in community service, school activities and social organizations. Donna was always giving of her time and talent, constantly influencing those around her.
In 1995, Donna and Norm retired and moved to German Village, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus years were a time of remarkable artistic growth for Donna. It was here that she really blossomed as an artistic painter. She became absorbed with the Columbus art community and was a very generous artist. She showed up everywhere - taking classes, setting up group and individual art shows, donating her work for local fundraising endeavors and graciously opening her German Village art studio for community events. And painting ALL THE TIME.
As an avid world traveler, her photos and personal experiences soon became the source for her paintings.
Donna won numerous awards for her work, was featured as a solo and contributing artist in many shows and became an influential officer in the Columbus Ohio Watercolor Society. (COWS).
It is an honor to present this collection of Donna’s paintings. This catalogue is truly a tribute to her creative accomplishments, but in the end, it is her paintings and prints that remain and endure with us all.
